CFB Week 9 Picks
#5 USC @ #10 Oregon
The play by play guy for this game is going to have a long day. First, both teams have proven and ability to pound the rock, and make the most out of their spontaneous passing games. Both teams get the quarterback. USC is 2nd in sacks as a team this year with 29, and Oregon is tied for 12th with 22. But Oregon leads USC in forcing turnovers and defensive touchdowns. Here is probably the most interesting statistic, Oregon has allowed 23 less points to Conference opponents, and outscored their opponents by an average of over 25 points. Okay so both teams score, protect the ball and get to the quarterback. So the question is, can the ducks beat another top 10 team, and they are playing at home. My Prediction: Oregon by 5.
#25 Ole Miss @ Auburn
So the rebels finally find themselves back in the rankings and in the BCS. Both teams have struggled on offense after starting the season hot. In a game of struggling teams, talent usually prevails. My Prediction: Ole Miss by 10.
Kansas State @ Oklahoma
In a Big 12 battle of a division leader, and a major disappointment. Both teams have 3 losses, while Oklahoma has lost to better programs than the Wildcats, Oklahoma just found out the lost their quarterback, and oh yeah he decided to leave and go to the NFL after the year. So insult on top of his injury, might just give K State an advantage. My Prediction: Kansas State by 3.
#21 West Virginia @ South Florida
Welcome to the shootout in South Florida. In a conference showdown, where honestly both teams are in it, but West Virginia is still undefeated in conference. The Mountaineers should be able to run the ball and control the clock in the end. My Prediction: West Virginia by 7.
Southern Miss @ #18 Houston
This name is not an open and shut case. Southern Miss is looking to get into the C USA championship, and Houston is excited to be back in the conversation in their conference. Houston has a natural ability to pass the ball, and pass it with authority. But Southern Miss has a power run game, and a defense that can absolutely knock you in the mouth. My prediction: Southern Miss by 5.
College Football Week 9 Picks
North Carolina at Virginia Tech- Ok so the Hokies are going to be none to happy after a loss to the Wramblin Wreck and having a buy week for the bitter taste to sit in their mouth. North Carolina is also comming of a loss after having a 18 point lead on the Noles at home last Thursday. They also play on a Thursday this week which usually bodes poorly for any opponent of Virginia Tech especially in Blacksburg. The Hokies are dominant on Thursday nights and the UNC O line has been suspec at best which should lead to a Hokie D feast. Tyrod will exploit the secondary the way FSU did and Carolina will remain winless in the ACC.
North Carolina 13 Virginia Tech 27
Georgia vs. Florida- Welcome to the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party, these two teams HATE eachother and the Dawgs would love to rain on the Gators parade. The Gators looked very beatable against Mississippi State and the Dawgs are a much better team than Mississippi State. If the same Gator team shows up there will be a party in Athens. However there are to many questions on Georgia's defense to pick against the Gators but expect the Dawgs to be there all the way.
Georgia 13 Florida 16
Texas at Oklahoma State- The toughest test for the Horns until the Big 12 Championship Game which means a win should leave them unbeaten going into the Big 12 title game. However Oklahoma State gave them all they wanted in Austin last year and this year the Cowboys get to play in their own backyard. Colt McCoy has looked "ok" against good teams this season. Oklahoma States offense will put points on the board and I think McCoy will make a turnover that will prove to be the difference on the road in a shootout.
Texas 38 Oklahoma State 42
Miami at Wake Forest- The Canes are comming of a disasterous loss to Clemson a week ago and play a team that finds themselves in the thick of the ACC Coastal race. What does that mean? Well Miami has no easy rebound game, especially on the road. The Miami D has had questions all year long and Rilley Skinner has enough experience at the QB position to exploit that. If Kyle Parker can make the Miami D look lousy then Rilley Skinner has a chance to show the people in the ACC that they are here to stay.
Miami 31 Wake Forest 35
South Carolina at Tennessee- Rocky Top came oh so close in Tuscalusa a week ago and play like that at home will give the Gamecocks fits. South Carolina hasn't looked great but they have taken care of buisness. However winning in Rocky Top against a desperate Tennessee team to get bowl eligible wont be easy and the Tennessee fans will reek havok with the South Carolina offense which will lead to a mistake that will cost them late.
South Carolina 17 Tennessee 24

College Football Week 8 picks
Tennessee at Alabama- Alabama has proven that they have not lost a step from last year after loosing John Parker Wilson and Glenn Coffee, they have came up big when they need to and Ingram is running through defenses. Tennessee comes in not really knowing what to expect, they give the Gators a war in the Swamp but the offense struggles mightely against Auburn then they romp Georgia. Go figure... Rocky Top will give the Tide a game but Ingram takes control in the 4th quarter.
Tennessee 17 Alabama 27
Georgia Tech at Virginia- Yeah the Wa Hoos are leading the ACC Coastal and are the only team that is unbeaten in ACC play. Yes this is the same team that lost to William and Mary and Southern Miss, but they have not lost since. Now are they the favorite Saturday, no but the will give the Ramblin Wreck fits after the Jackets just had an upset win against Virginia Tech. Now they have to play on the road against a team with confidence. Upset Alert anyone?
Georgia Tech 24 Virginia 30
Auburn at LSU- One looks at the last two games Auburn has played and can't help asking....What happened? They looked dead the 1st hals against Arkansas and did not do a thing against Kentucky. However LSU hasn't always looked great this year, strugggeling at home against Mississippi State, a team Auburn beat by 40. Anyone who has watched any SEC football knows this game is always close and the winner is probably Bamas main threat to getting to the SEC title game. If Auburn wins and Bama slips up before the game in Auburn the Iron Bowl could be for a trip to the SEC Championship and dont think for a second War Eagle is not aware of that.
Auburn 23 LSU 21
Penn State at Michigan- Penn State has not lived up to some of the expectations held at the begenning of the year but they can still get into the BCS IF they escape the Big House and the rest of their season without a loss. Michigan has improved and is theoredically still in the Big 10 race. For the Wolverines to have a shot at a confernce title this is a must win. At the end of the day Michigan will force Clark into a mistake and "Hail to the Victors" will be rockin Ann Arbor.
Penn State 34 Michigan 41
Oregon State at USC- A team that doomed the Trojans on a couple of occasions over the past 5 years rolls into the Collisium with confidence and a hope to perhaps upset the Trojans again. However USC is at home and they know the Pac 10 and any National Title hopes relly on this game. Oregon State maybe better than the teams of the past but USC will not get caught overlooking the Beavers again.
Oregon State 31 USC 45

Week 8 CFB Picks
#8 TCU @ #16 BYU
It is the battle of 3 letter nicknames. Last year TCU dominated the Cougars in the backfield. Sacking quarterback Max Hall 7 times in that game. Now here is a scary thought, that defense, is even better this year. Yes the Cougars have a dynamic offense, but it can be stopped. Look for the speed and athleticism of TCU to overwhelm the Cougars, even at home. The player to watch for this game; Jeremy Kerley. A talented wideout and exceptional speacial teamer who has 2 punt returns for a td in hi last 3 games. Very quick and never gives up on a play. My prediction: Horned Frogs by 11.
#3 Texas @ Mizzou
The Longhorns have a lot of momentum folling the win over Oklahoma. Mizzou on the other hand is looking to back on track and have Gabbert settle back in as quarterback. unfortunately it is not going to happen in this game Expect a blowout. My prediction: Texas by 17
Oklahoma @ #25 Kansas
Who could have imagined that come week 8 of this year, Kansas would be the ranked team, and division leader in this contest. Now Todd Reesing and the Fighting Manginos have been exceptional. Desmond Briscoe and Kerry Meier are probably both going to be 1st day draft picks in the NFl. Now I can't know the Sooner's defense. They held Colt McCoy and the Longhorns under 300 yards of offense in the Red River Rivaly, unfortunately this game is not at a nuetral site. So somehow I feel that maybe calling Kansas over Oklahoma is an upset, despite the 3-3 record. But here it goes. My Prediction: Rock Chalk Jay-Hawk wins by 10.
Arkansas @ Ole Miss
Ole Miss has been probably the second biggest disappointment of the year, other than Oklahoma. They are for all intents and purposes out of the SEC race. They dont have a big victory, and Jevan Snead has relapsed into what made the Texas coaches put him behind Colt McCoy. On the other hand, even though Arkansas is not ranked, they seem to be improving every game, and in my opinion, are performing beyond expectations. Keep in mind, they took Florida into the final seconds, and hey, in the words of every football analyst out there "Kickers are head cases." And Arkansas just didnt have the better one. Look for Mallet to exploit the strugglin, "Runnin the wrong way" Rebels. My Prediction: Arkansas by 8
USF @ #20 Pitt
Pitt is a team on fire. Believe it or not, despite all the stories about the Bearcats of Cincinnati, it is in fact Pittsburgh who leads the Big East. They control their own destiny and can extend their conference lead with a win over the struggling bulls. Expect Heinz field to be rockin' and the Pitt Panthers to be running behind the legs of an emerging star in Dion Lewis. My Prediction: Pitt by 10

Week 7 CFB Picks
#11 Iowa @ Wisconsin
Most people wouldn't take a second look at this game. But because I think Iowa is flying higher than they may be able to sustain, they could lose very soon. Wisconsin typically plays well at home and is peeved after a couple of disappointing weeks. Look for the Badgers to give Iowa all they can handle, but in the end I think the Hawkeyes just might pull one out the hat. My Prediction: Iowa by 3.
Mizzou @ #16 Oklahoma State
This one is pretty cut and dry. Mizzou finally lost, and Oklahoma State is at home. Shoot outs end one way against the Cowboys, with the cowboys on top. My Prediction: Ok St win by 14.
#4 Virginia Tech @ #19 Georgia Tech
This is probably the hardest game of the week to pick for me. Usually I would be quick to call the upset of the Hokies at an opposing venue. But not so fast my friend. V Tech is playing strong behind the legs of Williams, and could you believe, yes, the ARM of Tyrod Taylor. Tyrod is completeing 75% of his passes the last two weeks, with 4 tds and no picks. Georgia Tech scored fast and in bunches verse the Seminoles, but the Hokie defense can "gobble" teams up. Expect them to be well prepared and play with heart trying to show the voters they belong in the National title picture. My Prediction: Virginia Tech wins by 10.
Pitt @ Rutgers
This is a very interesting game. Pitt and Rutgers sit just on the edge of being Nationally ranked. Pitt is 5-1 and is currently leading the Big East with a 2-0 conf. record. if they win this game, they could very well control their own destiny in conf. play. Rutgers however is looking to beat a quality opponent and rival at home this year. Look for a tough defensive game that will come down to the wire. My Prediction: Pitt wins by 5.
NC State @ BC
In a game of two teams looking for a footing in their conference, this could turn out interesting. BC lost at home last week, State is looking just to get a conference win. Boston College with a win has a legitamate shot at getting back to the ACC Championship game. BC should win at home. My prediction: BC by 7.
College Football Week 7 Picks and week 6 wrap
Cincinnati at South Florida- The winner of this game is the clear front runner for the Big East Crown and defending champs Cincy look to keep it in their hands. However they face a South Florida team that has continued to impress with a big win at Florida State and without Matt Grothe. Billy Donavan has the Bulls riding high and prepared for a HUGE Thursday night showdown in front of their home fans. Look for South Florida to use the energy of the 12th man to get an early lead before Cincy makes a run after the 1st quarter.
Cincinnati 31 South Florida 35
South Carolina at Alabama- True Spuriers boys are playing well BUT Bama hasn't been to shabby either. South Carolina is going to have to play just about flawless football to beat the Crimson Tide at home. For a team that should have lost to NC State they have shown me verry little to proove they can knock off an elite team in their building. Bama will control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball leaving the Gamecocks struggeling to put many points on the board.
South Carolina 10 Alabama 24
Oklahoma vs. Texas- Ahhhh the Red River Shoot Out, the college football world was given a treat the last time these teams met with an offensive showdown and the Horns finding a way in the second half to over take Boomer Sooner. This year the Horns are thinking National Title while Oklahoma has lost twice and just got Sam Bradford back a week ago. Colt McCoy will play well showcasing Shiply much like a year ago. I do think we will see the Oklahoma people thought we would see at the beggening of the year but the Horns offense will be to much for Boomer Sooner in the 4th quarter as they loose a close one.
Oklahoma 42 Texas 45
USC at Notre Dame- One thing is certain USC is not the USC we are all used to the past 5 years, yes their good but we dont get that sence that if they loose its because they beat themselves. This year though it appears that expeirience is a little lacking and if a team plays well they can beat them. For Notre Dame and everyone else for that matter it seems like its been forever since thi Irish have beaten the Trojans. However this is their best shoot in a while being at home and a beatable USC team. Clausen has to play like a top recruit he was and the Notre Dame D will have to stand tall in the 4th quarter to pull off the upset. Ultimately I still think the Irish don't have the consistancy of the Trojans which will hurt them in crunch time.
USC 31 Notre Dame 28
Texas Tech at Nebraska- Huh the Red Raiders aren't as bad as people thought they would be after loosing a bunch of talent from a year ago. Meanwhile the Huskers are starting to look like the Nebraska of old scoring a lot and winning shootouts. Nebraska better be careful or they will fall victim to the upset bug on their home turf.
Texas Tech 42 Nebraska 38

Week 6 Bonus Pick
Florida at LSU- This is about as good as it gets a national top 5 SEC showdown. LSU is comming off 2 close calls against Mississippi State and Georgia. If that LSU team shows up they have NO shot with or without Tebow at QB for the Gators. However I do not think that LSU will play that poorly for a third straight week. The revenge factor is definatelly there as the Gators just toyed with LSU for 60 minitues last year in the swamp. This on paper is the toughest game for the Gators and potentially being without Tebow makes it tougher. LSU's crowd will reek havok and the speed on LSU will take advantage. This has potential to be a instant SEC classic.
Florida 31 LSU 34

College Football Week 6 Picks
Wisconsin at Ohio State- Don't look now but Wisconsin is 5-0 and seemingly getting better as the seeason progresses. Ohio State played well agains USC but came up just short. Outside of that the Buckeyes haven't really been tested outside of that and this will be a test even though they are at home. Look for this one to come down to the wire in the 4th quarter and Wisconsin do what they have not been able to do in a long time.....win a big one.
Wisconsin 24 Ohio State 21
Boston College at Virginia Tech- No one really thought BC would be 4-1 did they? Well they are and seem to be ignoring all of the so called distractions with ease. Granted they heven't had much compotition other than Florida State last week and that was even at home. However over the last 5 years BC has given the Hokies absolute fits and I expect them to be there in the 4th quarter again. However VT looked mediocer against Duke after looking domminate against Miami. I think the Hokies will be ready and wont let their potential of a National title be spoiled at home.
Boston College 27 Virginia Tech 31
UConn at Pittsburgh- A key game in the Big East as both teams have not lost in conference and both have only lost once this season. The winner of this game promotes themself in the front wave of contenders for the Big East title and a BCS bid. Pitt lost to State but the offense will be potent and at home, I really like their chances.
UConn 24 Pittsburgh 35
Auburn at Arkansas- After a win on the road last week at Tennessee the Tigers find themselves in the top 25 for the first time since early on in the 08 season. Last year Arkansas was the benificiary of a disasterous offencive performance from Auburn. However this year the Auburn offense is averaging 40 points a game and find themselves at 5-0. Auburn up to this point is playing the sleeper role beautifully and it should continue against an inconsistant Arkansas team.
Auburn 35 Arkansas 28
Oregon at UCLA- After an opening season disaster Oregon has rebounded nicely but this week they will be tested on the road against a really good UCLA team. Why is this a big game> Because the winner takes charge as the lead contender to dethrone USC. Oregon will play well but the MVP of the game may be the UCLA fans in the Rose Bowl.
Oregon 38 UCLA 41
CFB Picks Week 6
#21 Nebraska @ #24 Mizzou
Finally we get to see a Big 12 showdown. Sure this is not the south division with Oklahoma or Texas, but here is a storied program. Nebraska, trying to get back to the top. Mizzou however is looking to get back to another Big 12 title opportunity. And these teams have totally different philosophies. Mizzou will try and spread the ball out on offense and use packages on defense to force turnovers. Nebraska will pound the ball down your throat, and blitz until their players get tired. Mizzou has a slight advantage being at home, but in the end I think Nebraska might have to much for the Tigers to handle. My prediction: Nebraska wins by 8.
#3 Bama @ #20 Ole Miss
Even on paper the Rolling Tide should be able to roll through the Runnin Rebels. Jevan Snead is not having a year up to expectations and after a good start, the rebels are starting to look like the 07 rebels not the 08 ones. My Prediction: Bama wins by 13.
#22 Georgia Tech @ Florida State
I bet the schedule makers didnt see this one coming. Georgia Tech, being the higher ranked team, playing Florida State, who is unranked, at home in week 6. Georgia Tech is starting to emerge as a potential ACC title game participant. Virginia Tech comes in to ATL next week and if the Jackets can beat Tech their remaining schedule is ridiculously easy by comparison. I expect Tech to live up to the Buzz and beat the Seminoles. My Prediction: Georgia Tech wins by 5.
Michigan at #12 Iowa
After and embarrasing loss to Michigan state Michigan, though unfairly in my opinion, fell out of the rankings all together. Iowa however is still running high after a upset win vs Penn State, and then beat arkansas state just to keep the nations 2nd longest winning streak alive. Here is my upset of the week. As good as Iowa is playing, they arent able to just put teams away. Michigan will be pissed off and ready to knock off a ranked opponent at home. My Prediction: Michigan wins by 6.
Georgia at Tennessee
Oh where did that good ole' Rocky Top go. A disappointing season yet again for the Volunteers. But the Bulldogs aren't exactly exceeding expectations either. Look for a game tht will probably stay in the teens. My Prediction: Tennessee wins by 3.

College Football Week 5 Picks
LSU at Georgia- A Saturday afternoon SEC showdown in Athens that should not disapoint. Georgia has shown nothing but improvement from their opening loss to Oklahoma State. LSU is comming off a near disaster loss to Mississippi State but was able to hold on the goalline 3 straight plays. LSU has an offence capable of scoring early and often but Georgia is a little better than Mississippi State and the 12th man will be a factor. That said I think LSU leatned from a week ago and fights off a tough test in Athens.
LSU 38 Georgia 35
USC at California-What more of an opportunity can Cal ask for to dethrone USC from the Pac 10 driver seat. USC is weaker than normal, Cal has the best team that they have had in the past 5 years. Led by Best the running game can control the game and the Cal D can stop people this year. Look for a close one but I think Cal pulls it out at home.
USC 31 Cal 35
Oklahoma at Miami- Miami is comming off a beatdown in Blacksburg where they had 7 points and negative rushing yards. The good news for Miami the OU D is not as good the bad....OU's offense is better with or without Bradford. Miami has to get on track offensively but there at home and OU's inability to make a deffensive stop when they have to will cost em on the road.
Oklahoma 38 Miami 42
Auburn at Tennessee- I have the privelidge of whitnessing this game live at Neyland Stadium. Auburn is unbeaten but the toughest team they played is West Virginia and they haven't had a road game. Auburn has amended their offense woes from a year ago by having about 45 points a game in their first 4. Tennessee comes in at 2-2 but looking the best a Tennessee team has in about 3-5 years. Auburn is trying to prove to everyone that they are better than people give em credit for and a win on the road in the SEC will definatally help.
Auburn 31 Tennessee 24
Michigan at Michigan State- Michigan has finally discovered what playing a good brand of football looks like for the first time in the last 3 years. Rich Rodreguiez has Big Blue going in the right direction but Michigan State is not a pushover. They come in having tested Notre Dame on the road and now they have a shot to knock off Big 10 rival Michigan at home. However the Maize in Blue offence is going to confuse the heck out of a simple Michigan State defense.
Michigan 42 Michigan State 31
Week 5 Picks
Washington at Notre Dame
The Huskies have been good so far. Though some would argue that maybe Notre dame is in store for a breakout year, I see otherwise. And it starts here. The Huskies already beat USC, and Notre Dame is still unproven even with one of the easiest schedules around. Jake Lockear will lead this team, to a week 5 upset of the Fighting Irish and get his name into the Heisman or at least Davey O' Brian conversation. My prediction: Washington wins by 6 points.
USC at Cal
Oh wow what a game. With potential Pac 10 champion implications this should be the game of the week. Two extremely good running attacks, inexperienced defenses, and quarterbacks who can be hit and miss. Look for this game to get into the 30's and come down to the end. My prediction: Usc wins by 7 points.
Oklahoma at Miami (FL)
So many questions in this game it might feel like a mid term just to watch it. Jacory Harris? Can he pass against better defenses? Will Sam Bradford be back? Can Miami's running game step up? Its gonna be a good one in South Florida, lets just hope the weather is nice, or Miami will get beat again. My prediction: Miami wins by 7.
Auburn at Tennessee
My friend Kyle aka Kip has a unique opportunity to see this game upclose. I too may get tht same chance. Trying to be unbiased is hard considering the extreme respect I have for the Auburn program. Though the Vols have homefield and are starting to mesh as a team the Tigers are already one step ahead. If the Auburn offense can put up 20 points, (They are averaging over 40 a game so far) then they should be able to win this one. My prediction: Auburn wins by 6.
LSU at Georgia.
Running game vs running game. Power D vs Fast D. Very simple the team with the better run game will wi this one. Bad QB's and polar oppposite D's should make this fun to watch if you are an LSU fan. My prediction: LSU wins by 11 points.
