Western Carolina Finally Finds the Win Column

After an 0-5 start the Catamounts found some homecomming magic as they beat the Citadel on Saturday 14-10. The Western D kept the Catamounts in it and the offense finally found a way to get on the board in the 3rd quarter. Western had made it 7-10 in the 3rd after a Johnson TD run from a yard out then after a Citadel missed feild goal Western had another impressive drive but where held to a 4th and 1 on the Citadel 6. After initially sending the feild goal team out the Western faithfull erged the WCU coaching staff to go for it and to the crowds liking Western called a time out and then sent out the offense. The O-line did their job and not only gave enough room to pick up the first but enough for the Western tailback to find the end zone and Westerns first lead in a football game all year long. The Western D then did what they had all afternoon long, stuff the Citadel offensive attack and allowed the Catamounts to gain their first win of the year and first homecomming win in 10 years. After a storming of the feild by the fans the "Pride of the Mountians Marching Band" closed out in fine fashion as the celebration of a Western Carolina victory was under way.
