'09 Confrence USA football preview

Last year Conf. USA got on a national stage with the emergence of ECU cracking the top 25 and monster upsets of eventual Orange Bowl Vhamp Virginia Tech and Big East power West Va. Not only that they finished it off with a confrence title and bowl win. Will ECU play up to that level this season........with a coach like Skip Holtz and a QB like Pinkney it is verry possible. At a minimum they are favorites in thier confrence. Thier out of confrence schedule is a bear with games at West Va., vs. Va. Tech, and FCS powerhouse Appalachian State but within the confrence who has the talent level or playmakers like ECU? Yes it is a confrence that had 4 bowl game wins but on a week in week out basis there is no concistancy. However there are 2 teams that could be challengers and theory busters. Houston and UCF. Both have a lot of offence but thier defences are shakey. If they can play solid D ECU may get all they can handle. So with that being said here is my preview:
Favorite: ECU- Pickney is an explosive player and makes great decesions. However the other 10 have to help out on offence especially the o line and RB Lindsay. The big question how will they react in "must perform" moments, with Pickney I think they have the tools to handle pressure with ease.
Sleeper: UCF- offence is loaded but can the D come up big consistantly. If so they are capable of beating a lot of really good teams. Thier sucess is the D's success the offence will score.
Flat out bad: SMU- little talent + little confidence= few wins
Best player: Patrick Pickney- by a mile. Not only is he accurate with his arm but when things break down is capable of making plays by himself while knowing what he can and can not force. A true game changer! - Kyle
