Lets talk the little guys! Well, theier not so little after Appalachian State ran right through the Big House and beat at the time #5 Michigan. Appalachian was the biggest thing and almost seemed liked the only thing in the FCS until.........ALONG CAME A SPIDER. Richmond knocked off the 3 time defending champs on the road. But before you even think about criticizing App, get this, last years senior class won 3 national titles and they got the stuff to be right there again. Armante Edwards is solid and electrifying at QB and the offence revolves around him. The D is solid and Moore can flat out coach. However Appalachian won't be the only kid on the block either, the CAA has its share of talent and the defending national champs in Richmond. Led by Jr QB Eric Ward the Spiders will have the talent to catch thier 2nd straight title. Although they have to replace a RB thier offence will be fine as Ward has had several rushing yards himself. Also James Madison and Wofford could sneak up on the two favorites in the FCS. Both Wofford and JMU can score like nobody's buisness but can they stop good offence's on a consistant basis. The answer to that question will determine thier run in the playoffs. So here is the bottom line:
Favorite: Appalachian State- its hard to hold down greatness for any period of time and with Edwards returning Richmond will have all they can deal with but expect to see both deep in the playoffs.
Sleeper: James Madison- being that they are used to success they can challange Richmond in the CAA and are capable of making a deep run in the post season.
MVP: Armonte Edwards- accurate arm + speed + experience = core of a really good offence.
